New Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Converters

Written by Emery Eckman, 2026-05-05

(Special to USTimes, Las Vegas, 2024-04-12) Blackmagic Design Today unveiled it’s new Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters, which include mini and rack mount models, all of which support Ultra HD using 10G Ethernet. Customers in broadcast, live production, and AV, can now integrate SDI equipment into 2110 IP broadcast systems. The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters will be available worldwide this May from Blackmagic Design resellers starting from $365.

From the 2110 IP Mini models that can hide behind equipment, to the larger rack mount models that include LCD panels. Working with 10G Ethernet makes products smaller, lower power, and more affordable.

The new Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Converters conform to SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, and include PTP clocks and NMOS support to make connections using a video router panel. Most models are bidirectional, providing an extra program return. The rack mount models feature a color LCD for monitoring, menus, and diagnostics.

The new converters can integrate SDI equipment into 2110 IP broadcast systems, giving customers a low cost way to transform their video equipment to SMPTE-2110 by adding one a live production switcher, disk recorder, streaming processor, camera, TV, etc.

Models are available with RJ-45 connectors for Cat6 copper cables, which helps lower the cost for consumers, or SFP sockets for optical fiber modules and cables.

With the ability to connect converters point to point, Blackmagic has eliminated the need for IT techs on standby or complex Ethernet switches, providing the advantages of SMPTE-2110 IP with simple Ethernet cables, remote power, and bidirectional video.

All converters support the NMOS interface, so any 2110 IP video device can operate together as a virtual router, and Videohub Smart Control can route sources to 2110 IP networks and act as an NMOS controller.

The Blackmagic converters support SD, HD, and Ultra HD. If you do need Ultra HD above 30fps, the Blackmagic IP10 codec has a low latency of 8 samples and is an open standard with no license fees, maintaining an affordable solution with an extremely small codec.

“This new range of Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters is exciting because it gives customers a way to integrate their existing SDI equipment into low cost 2110 IP broadcast systems,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “By using 10G Ethernet, we were able to design the converters in a smaller size, using lower power, allowing them to be powered remotely, all at an affordable price. We can’t wait to see how customers use them in studios, at live events, hidden on set, in corporate or hotel AV setups and everywhere in between!”
