Love the new iPad Pro, but it needs to be stabilized and on a tripod when I’m shooting with it. Behold, the iShot G7 Pro iPad 12.9 Tripod Mount, available on Amazon here. For under $40 it is a welcome addition to my accessories and now comes with me on every shoot.

The rig is lightweight and mounts directly on to my tripod head. In the picture below, I’ve added it to the Manfrotto XXX ballhead on the Photo Clam tripod I use for trips where weight and size is a concern. Wish I’d had it in the Amazon last month!

The rig is easy to understand, installs in seconds and keeps the iPad Pro firmly attached to the tripod.

It is adjustable and can fit any cover, although I do not yet have a cover as the keyboard is on back-order.

One concern that I have is the fact that the clips are not adjustable in distance between the back of the mount and the grips on the front of the iPad and I’ll have to find another solution to keep it from wobbling back and forth. It’s OK when standing still on the tripod during shooting, but I’d worry if I had to carry this around a convention floor as I expect to be doing during the upcoming CES and NAB expos.

I’ll find a way to stabilize the clips and let you know what I have McGuivered 🙂

The iOgrapher still hangs on to the #1 spot for professional and pro-sumer iPad and iPhone mounts, as it allows for extra lenses and accessories to be added to the rig. But until biographer makes a mount for the iPad pro, the iShot is a great solution!

Verdict: Recommend!
