(2023-10-13, Cupertino, CA, Special to the U.S. Times) After unveiling the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, Apple dedicated the final 50 minutes of their September 12th Apple Wonderlust event livestream presentation to announcing the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineup. With the global release on September 22nd, Apple customers worldwide are getting hands-on with the new features and quality-of-life improvements one can expect from a new generation of iPhone.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus

The iPhone 15 lineup has two models: the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. Both feature an all-new color-infused back glass with a textured matte finish and curved aluminum edges, an improved display utilizing OLED technology, and the Dynamic Island introduced with last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models, expanding its toolset and functionality. The iPhone 15’s most touted feature is a 48-megapixel camera that promises photography at increased, well-detailed resolutions that also allows for a new 2x telephoto zoom. Furthermore, in a move that signals an era of change, Apple has adopted USB-C for wired charging and general connectivity, replacing the longstanding Lightning port used since the iPhone 5 in 2012.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

Compared to the base hardware, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature even more powerful hardware with the A17 Pro chip, boasting an overhauled GPU and faster CPU, a lightweight and durable aerospace-grade titanium design combined with a sturdy back glass, and introduces a customizable, multipurpose “action button” that replaces the switch used to toggle between ring and silent. In addition, the 48-megapixel camera is far more robust than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. In addition to choosing between focal lengths of 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm, the iPhone 15 Pro features an expansive 3x Telephoto camera, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max providing a 5x zoom at 120 mm, making it the longest optical zoom ever introduced on iPhone, capable of capturing images at seven different focal lengths.
