LD Systems Acquires Solid State Logic ‘L550 Plus’ Audio Mixing Console

(2023-08-22, Boston, MA) Solid State Logic, a United Kingdom-based audio console manufacturer, announced their L550 Plus sound mixing console was adopted and utilized by LD Systems, a Houston company providing state-of-the-art video, audio, and lighting equipment for live events such as concerts, television specials, and corporate events.

Earlier this year, the L550 Plus console proved its capabilities at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the world’s largest rodeo and livestock exhibition, working with LD System’s renowned production services and broad inventory of stadium technology.

This year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo housed several well-known musical artists, including Zac Brown Band, New Kids on The Block, the Chainsmokers, and Machine Gun Kelly, in addition to utilizing advanced audio infrastructure to ensure an audiovisual spectacle for the rodeo’s millions of attendees. With the L550 Plus having shown its worth in such a complex ecosystem, it is now an integral part of LD System’s backbone.

Thomas Ruffner, LD Systems Audio Department Operations Manager, has committed to the hardware, confirming the purchase of another Solid State Logic console while touting its efficiency and performance at the rodeo. “The engineer at this position manages roughly 50 sources, including announcers’ mics, all video rolls, and a multitude of FX mics placed throughout the rodeo competition arena, as well as nightly live performances of the National Anthem.”

Ruffner adds, “We are preparing for an increase in demand of our L550 Plus systems on corporate productions, as well as fly date support across the many festivals that we’re fortunate to be involved with every season. We do think highly of the platform. It’s without a doubt one of the best-sounding desks on the market.”
