Checking out Tech Awards at NAB 2025

(2025-04-12, Las Vegas, NV, Special to the U.S. Times) The curtains closed on NAB 2025 on Wednesday last week, capping five days of exciting product reveals across many categories of production, virtual production, and post-production solutions from many of the usual suspects, in addition to newcomers to the show. While this year’s conference didn’t draw as many people as the NAB forecasted (an estimated 62,000 attendees, with final numbers reporting 55,000), exhibitors have been reporting “higher quality conversations” of actual potential buyers and not just stragglers casually ogling the booths. Plus, the product launches across all categories, from the South Hall to the West Hall, did not disappoint either.

And, of course, with each hall of the LVCC packed with new product reveals, the judges for the “Best of Show Awards” hosted by TV Tech had a big job picking the winners. Videomaker Magazine also hosted its own awards: the Videomaker Best of NAB Awards, unleashing its team of editors on the show floor to find the very best the industry had to offer.

Below are a few notable companies graced with TV Tech’s Best of Show, with the complete roster of winners announced here.

  • Adobe – Generative Extend in Premiere Pro
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Media Quality-Aware Resiliency (MQAR)
  • Blackmagic Design – Blackmagic PYXIS 12K
  • Blackmagic Design – Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive
  • Canon U.S.A Inc. – Optical Unit for 4K Field Box Lenses
  • Dolby – Dolby’s Server-Guided Ad Insertion Solution
  • Fincons Group and NBCUniversal – NBC – Telemundo NextGen TV Broadcast App Evolution
  • Grass Valley – Event Producer X
  • Sandisk – Sandisk Extreme PRO with USB4® Portable SSD
  • Sony Electronics – BVM-HX1710 & BVM-HX1710N

Meanwhile, Other World Computing (OWC) took home Videomaker’s Best Desktop Storage for their ThunderBlade X12 external SSD, a powerhouse in media storage built for the most demanding productions, unfazed by high-resolution video and other large-scale workflows. With peak speeds of up to 6,600 MB/s and a configurable capacity of up to 96TB, combined with its fast file transfer speeds thanks to its Thunderbolt 5 interface, it all adds up to a device capable of working with even raw 12k footage.

OWC Founder and CEO Larry O’Connor reflects on this achievement. “It’s always meaningful to be recognized, and we’re truly honored that Videomaker chose the OWC ThunderBlade X12 for this award at NAB 2025. This really speaks to the incredible work our team puts in every day to innovate and deliver solutions that go beyond expectations.”

Other awards presented by Videomaker included Best Camera, which they presented to Nikon for their new Nikon Z5II mirrorless camera, and Best Microphone, awarded to Hollyland for their Lark M2S lightweight wireless microphone setup.

With near-countless products on the NAB show floor catching the industry’s attention, it’s safe to say this year’s lineup of award winners sets the tone for what’s next in media, broadcast, and the rapidly growing creator economy.
